One of our goals is to get more kids involved with retrievers. We encourage youth of all ages to learn how to handle and run the Sutter Bay dogs in training and in hunt tests. Kids under the age of 18 are eligible to run dogs in AKC and HRC hunt tests.  We also have developed a kid's hunting program. Contact us for more information.

We were honored to participate again in the Youth Outdoor Day June 2011. This is an event that sells out each year with 750 kids, hosted by Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation. Youth Outdoor Day offers an array of hands-on activities where kids can experience and learn about wildlife conservation, hunting, fishing, wilderness survival and the great outdoors. The kids are offered a wide variety of hands on opportunities, as this video from last year shows: Video Link. Dog demonstrations have long been used, but we much prefer to have the kids run the Sutter Bay dogs and the dogs have a blast running for them! Teamed with Delta Waterfowl, this has become an annual event for us.
